A REVIEW ON MESO-MECHANICAL METHOD FOR STUDYING THE STATIC-MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF CONCRETE

  • Mechanical propertiesof concrete are one of the prerequisites in seismic design andsimulation analysis of engineering structures, such as dam andocean platform. While the research on concrete mechanicalperformance is the weak link in the current study. As known,concrete is a typical heterogeneous material, and the macromechanical properties are determined by meso ingredients. Themeso-mechanical methods for studying the macro-mechanicalproperties of concrete currently, that is, the meso-mechanicalfinite element method and the theoretical prediction method, werepresented in the paper. The influence of interfacial transitionzone (ITZ) on the property of concrete was expatiated, and thestate quo of research on issues on the bonding interface ofconcrete was simply introduced. Then the meso element equivalentmodel proposed by the author was presented. Finally, somesuggestions were provided for future development and studies.
