The motive andsignificance of laser driving shock wave for the study ofmaterials equation of state (EOS) is discussed in this paper, andthe methods of flyer impact, impedance-match and free surfacevelocity are analyzed and compared. Progress and current status ofthe research on laser driving shock wave for the study ofmaterials EOS is summarized, and new diagnostic method is alsopresented.
