  • The kinematics of ALE description and grid automaticrezoning algorithm in the ALE form are summarized in this paper. The causesof instability of numerical resolution for classical FEM are given and themethods to remove the numerical instability are discussed. The upwind finiteelement methods are introduced in detail. The latest researchprogress of ALE upwind finite element methods is reviewed. The keyproblems for the future researches are outlined.
