in present paper the methods and recent research advances in the field of structuraldamage detection are briefly reviewed, of whiCh those through vibration response and modal parameters of structures are the mainly concerns. Some discussions on this subject are given. A briefintroduction on damage detection by using stress wave and neural network is also given. Somefuture research trends on damage detection of structures airs outlined.
