RESEARCH PROGRESS ON ELASTIC WIRE ROPE THEORIES

in this paper the recent progress of elastic wire rope theories is reviewed in detail,especially, the discrete models and the trends of its development. Other models, such as semidiscrete models are introduced briefly. Theoretical results of several models are compared withthose of experiments. Finally, the shortcomings and future research topics on wire ropes arepresented and discussed.
