  • About two thirds of total area in China are located in the seasonally frost and permafrost regions. The physico-mechanical properties of soils in the regions will be changed frequently due to the periodic variation of climate which makes engineering projects suffer heavy frost damage. Consequently, the mechanics of frost action, as a branch of mechanics, has been developing quickly since the early of this century. In this paper, the development of frost action mechanics in China in last 30 years is reviewed...
