In this paper, general properties of the atmospheric boudary layer (ABL)undcr homogeneous, surface conditions are described,including a comparison of ABL with aerodynamic boundary layer. Also, the aerodynamic characteristics of ABL over the surfaces which experience a sudden change in roughness and over terrain are discussed. With respect to ABL dynamics, some problems, important for further studies, are proposed by the author.
