Abstract: Wide band random vibration of structures is an interesting area in the theory of random vibration in which the number of responding modes is so large that some asymptotic behaviour may be observed. The present paper is a survey of the concepts and methods in this area. The emphasis is placed on the pattern of asymptotic spatial distrbutions of mean-square response of uniformly symmetric structures with light damping excited by stationary wide band random force applied at isolated points.
