Abstract:
In this paper an analysis is presented on the use of embedded optical hber sensors in concrete elements and structures for the non-destructive meas- urement of internal stress and strahas well as fol the assessment of structural integrity,The fundamental properties of materials and micro-mechnical aspects regarding the fiber/matrix interaction are discussed,In addition,a summary of the experimental results obtained to date is made along with the prospective applications with respect to this new technology.
