Abstract: The state-of-the art of the research of constitutive theory for concrete is presented in this paper. Physical mechanism of deformation and damage of concrete and several important constitutive phenomena are analyzed. Descriptive methods to model damage, unilateral behavior and shear dilatation effect etc. of concrete are also discussed. Five damage constitutive models for concrete are introduced.
