Abstract: The roles played by computation in the research of nonlinear mechanics arc elucidated in the present paper. Then, the mathematical aspects in the computation of nonlinear mechanics problems and some frontier topics in this field are analyzed. In addition, we have explored the ways to make full use of capabilities and resources of the computer.
