Abstract: Atherosclerosis is manily concerned with the system of heart blood vessels. Its study has made considerable advance during the past thirty years. This paper reviews the research work on two important problems: the cellular reactions to blood flow and the transport of macromolecules across the wall. We will'show that some old hypotheses have turned out to be not valid and present . some new viewpoints. Lastly some hot points of this field are shown.
