Abstract: In this paper, the recent developments of the skin mechanics are summarized and the methods and the apparatus of experiments in vivo or vitro are introduced. The mechanical models and the main mechanical properties are discussed. Finally, the application of skin mechanics to clinical practice is briefly reviewed.
