  • Materials with a cellular structure have unique mechanical properties, and find increasingly wider use in engineering. Man-made cellular materials can be categorized into those of honeycomb type and foam type. This paper reviews recent studies on mechanical behaviour of materials of both honeycomb type and foam type under various loading conditions. Cellular structures of ,some natural materials, such as wood and cancellous bone, and their models arc described briefly as well.
